Maksymum Hockey is the nation’s leading hockey development company, specializing in one-on-one private hockey lessons for players of all ages, levels and positions, including goaltenders. Our students range in age and experience from 4 year old beginners to 20 year old major college and junior players.
HOW TO GET STARTED
After you make the decision to enroll in private lessons, getting on the schedule is the next step. Getting started is as simple as giving us a call or stopping by the office. When you contact us it’s best to have a list of available days that fit into your schedule. Depending on instructor availability, it’s possible that your son or daughter could begin lessons the same day that you get in touch with us.
One of the first questions our clients ask is “How often should my son or daughter be coming in for lessons?” The answer depends on the individual student’s age, ability level and attention span. We have students that come in 2-3 times per week, some who take lessons once every couple of weeks and others who come periodically for a “tune-up”. We recommend starting with one lesson per week to see how the student responds.
INSTRUCTORS
The other big question is “Which instructor will be working with my child?” First time clients are welcome to request an instructor or we can simply place your son or daughter with the instructor who we feel would be the best fit.
The Maksymum Hockey Family is comprised of world class instructors. All have played at a high level. On any given day it’s possible to see Division I collegians, Olympic athletes and NHL veterans providing lessons to our clients. However, playing ability is not the sole factor on which we hire. We require that our teachers possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with students. All of our instructors teach the same fundamentals so that there is an established continuity and learning progression
EQUIPMENT
We require that all students participating in on-ice private lessons wear full equipment including a helmet with a cage. While Maksymum Hockey does not supply equipment we can recommend a local pro shop with a knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices.
LESSON DAY
We recommend arriving 20-30 minutes prior to the start of each lesson. This will allow for ample time to get dressed and be on the ice on time. It’s also best to get in the habit of checking in to our office (located in ESL Sports Centre’s upper lobby between the snack bar and pro shop) prior to each lesson to find out what ice sheet and locker rooms we’ll be using for the day.
Lessons start promptly at the scheduled time so it is important to be punctual. Private lessons are scheduled back to back on a very rigid ice schedule and it is therefore impossible to “make-up” time on lessons that start late.
LESSON PACKAGES AND PRICING
Lessons are 30 minutes in duration and specifically tailored to the individual needs of the student.
Single Lesson: $36 Regular, $41 Senior
5-Pack: $171 Regular, $195 Senior
10-Pack: $324 Regular , $369 Senior
20-Pack: $612 Regular, $697 Senior
All lesson packages expire one year from the date of purchase. There are absolutely no refunds.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We kindly ask that all cancellations be made at least one day in advance. If for any reason you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment we require that you notify us before 10AM on the day of the lesson. If any changes or cancellations are made after 10AM, or the student is a no-show, Maksymum Hockey will bill for the price of the lesson or take 1 lesson off any existing package.
